Greetings! Welcome to Mengyuan Ma(马梦原)’s home!

Currently, I am a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Manchester(UoM), under the supervision of Prof. Hujun Yin, supported by the UoM-CSC Joint Scholarship. Previously, I received my bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Information Engineering from Northwestern Polytechnical University in 2016, and master’s degree in Electronic and Communication Engineering from Beihang University in 2019. From Novermber 2019 to July 2020, I worked as a research intern focusing on human activity grounding at iLearn, Shandong University, under the supervision of Prof. Liqiang NIE. My research interests cover a wide range of deep learning related topics including imgae segmentation, semi-supervised learning, domain adaptation, information retrieval and remote sensing. Also, I serve as a reviewer for several top-tier journals, such as IEEE Sensors Journal. For more about my academic background, please refer to my CV and Publication.

Beyond research and work, I am also a wanderlust, amateur photographer and drone flyer. I have been to more than 20 countries, taken thousands of pictures and videos. Due to the pandemic of Covid-19, I spend most of time staying at home and flying my UAV to record the city of Manchester these days. 30/11/2020: I arrived at Manchester against the spread of Covid-19 and the lockdown in England.

01/11/2020: I was registered at the Univeristy of Manchester and began the weekly meeting with my supervisor.

12/07/2020: I was awarded with the UoM - CSC Joint Scholarship to further my Ph.D. study. Thanks to my supervisor Prof. Hujun Yin’s help and support! Cheers!

01/11/2019: I went to Shandong Univeristy(Qingdao campus) for my internship, supervised by Prof. Liqiang NIE and Dr. Xiaojun Chang, waiting for the visa to Australia.

26/09/2019: Our paper “Maritime targets classification based on CNN using Gaofen-3 SAR images” was publised by the Journal of Engineering. Cheers!

30/08/2019: Our work won the first place in the TRECVID 2019: Activities in Extended Video Competition. Cheers!

15/01/2019: Award for Graduate publishing Excellent Academic Paper, Beihang University.

15/01/2019: Graduated with distingction from Beihang University.

14/12/2018: Our Paper “Ship Classification and Detection Based on CNN Using GF-3 SAR Images” was accepted by Remote Sensing. Cheers!

30/08/2018: Our work won the First place in National Ship Detection Challenge: SAR Images Track. Cheers!

19/03/2016: Went to TU Branuschweig(Germany) to complete my bachelor’s thesis “Development of A Thin Film Antenna for CubeSats”, supported by China Scholarship Council (CSC) Scholarship for Excellent Undergraduate Students.

30/09/2012: I was enrolled at the Honors College, Northwestern Polytechnical University, China.

06/06/2012: Graduated from the Middle School Attatched to Qufu Normal University, Shandong Province, China.
